This is a simple sterling silver bodkin, used for weaving ribbons, yarns and heavy threads through beading or other trims. It measures 2 5/8 inches long and is slightly more than 3/8 inch at it's widest part. It is hallmarked on the back with an "S" within a shield, the symbol for the Simons Brothers Company. It was probably made around 1900. It is still very useful today, especially for heirloom sewing, and would be a welcome addition to any stitchers inventory of tools.
