Ornate Sterling Curling Iron

Can't you just imagine someone using this little gem to get those oh-so-tiny ringlets in their hair? It would have taken forever to do but how gracious it was with this sterling silver beauty in gentler times, circa 1890-1910. The handle is covered in lovely details: beading, crests, leaves and swirls. The clamp has a Mother of Pearl button to push on without getting the fingers burned while curling those ringlets. The rod and clamp are in very good shape, but there is some discoloration between the clamp hinge and the sterling handle. The curling iron measures 7 5/8 inches long with the handle measuring slightly more then 3/4 inch at its' widest part and 3/8 inch thick. This is a fun reminder of times gone by...thank goodness ladies don't have to curl their hair this way anymore!
